The Community Impact Project Announces Official Name Change

After long and careful consideration, we have decided to drop “East Kilbride Neighbourhood Watch” from our official title. While we remain fully committed to community safety and local initiatives, our focus is now on broader campaigns that have a direct impact on the lives of residents.

East Kilbride Neighbourhood Watch remains central to our operations, with just over 400 dedicated members and by far we are the largest in size area and membership..

Our priority areas include:

  • Ending knife crime through awareness, education, and community action, including our FOI report due covering Scotland’s admissions to NHS hospitals for Knife related injuries.
  • Conducting independent research, such as our GP survey, to highlight gaps and improve local healthcare services due in the coming months.
  • Investigative journalism and reporting that brings overlooked community issues to light.
  • Collaboration with local organisations and community groups to deliver meaningful support and outcomes

We will continue to heavily promote membership of our organisation across Scotland, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, and the wider UK, while maintaining strong partnerships with local groups here in East Kilbride, just as we have always done. Members have automatically been members regardless of location but we do keep track of EK memberships for Neighbourhood Watch Central Office.

This name change does not alter our ethos or mission. Our social media platforms and website will continue to operate under The Community Impact Project, reflecting our dedication to examining and improving all aspects of community life — from safety and health to education, wellbeing, and social justice.

As always, our commitment remains to inform, empower, and connect the community, ensuring that every initiative we undertake has a tangible, positive impact. We remain steadfast in our mission to create a safer, stronger, and more inclusive East Kilbride and beyond.

Please note: We kindly request that all journalists and news media refer to us as The Community Impact Project in any coverage and if posted tag us on our official social media channels.

Signed,
KJ Yates
